چکیده

The quasi-particle excitations of a ferromagnet, near a quantum critical point are examined. The weak ferromagnetic state is described by the Hubbard model. The effects of emission of absorption of Goldstone modes on the quasiparticles is examined, as are the effects of the incoherent spin–flip excitations. It is found that, unlike the strong ferromagnet, the Goldstone modes have negligibly small effects on the quasi-particle spectrum and the strongest effects originate from the incoherent spin–flips. The incoherent spin excitations produce large quasi-particle mass enhancements and also produce an incoherent peak in both the off Fermi energy majority and minority spin spectral density. r 2005 Elsevier B.V. Quantized meson fields in and out of equilibrium. II: Chiral condensate and collective meson excitations

We develop a quantum kinetic theory of the chiral condensate and meson quasiparticle excitations using the O(N) linear sigma model which describe the chiral phase transition both in and out of equilibrium in a unified way. A mean field approximation is formulated in the presence of mesonic quasi-particle excitations which are described by generalized Wigner functions. It is shown that in equili...

Vortex Description of Quantum Hall Ferromagnets

We study particle states of quantum Hall ferromagnet from the viewpoint of the incompressible fluid description. It is shown that phase space of Chern-Simons matrix theory which is an effective theory for the incompressible fluid is equivalent to moduli space of vortex theory. According to this correspondence, elementary excitations in vortex theory are identified as particle states in quantum ...

Quantum-critical fluctuations in 2D metals: strange metals and superconductivity in antiferromagnets and in cuprates

The anomalous transport and thermodynamic properties in the quantum-critical region, in the cuprates, and in the quasi-two dimensional Fe-based superconductors and heavy-fermion compounds, have the same temperature dependences. This can occur only if, despite their vast microscopic differences, a common statistical mechanical model describes their phase transitions. The antiferromagnetic (AFM)-...

0 N ov 1 99 8 Single - particle properties of a model for coexisting charge and spin quasi - critical fluctuations coupled to electrons

We study the single-particle spectral properties of a model for coexisting AFM and ICDW critical fluctuations coupled to electrons, which naturally arises in the context of the stripe-quantum-critical-point scenario for high-T c superconducting materials. Within a perturbative approach, we show that the on-shell inverse scattering time deviates from the normal Fermi-liquid behavior near the poi...

Coulombic quantum liquids in spin-1/2 pyrochlores.

We develop a nonperturbative gauge mean field theory (gMFT) method to study a general effective spin-1/2 model for magnetism in rare earth pyrochlores. gMFT is based on a novel exact slave-particle formulation, and matches both the perturbative regime near the classical spin ice limit and the semiclassical approximation far from it. We show that the full phase diagram contains two exotic phases...
